The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has taken a significant step forward by enhancing its website with a suite of new tools and resources designed to support travel agents. This move reflects CLIA’s recognition of the growing demand for insightful and practical tools that can help agents navigate the complexities of cruise line sales and services.
Among the new offerings, agents will find an array of training opportunities and sales tools, all accessible online. These resources are tailored to equip agents with the knowledge and skills needed to become successful authorised sellers of cruise line products. Additionally, a detailed online booking guidelines page has been introduced, providing agents with critical information to streamline the booking process effectively.
Further expanding the online resources, CLIA has launched a ‘CLIA Recommends’ page. This feature compiles the latest information on familiarisation trips, ship visits, and networking opportunities from member cruise lines. It is designed to keep agents informed and engaged with current industry trends and opportunities for professional development.
Moreover, CLIA has developed an interactive sustainability toolkit, offering comprehensive factsheets aimed at enhancing destination knowledge. This tool is intended to provide agents with deeper insights into sustainable travel options, allowing them to better serve customers interested in environmentally responsible cruise travel.
In addition to these new resources, the association has highlighted the Riverbank fund as part of its RiverView programme. This initiative awards up to £1,000 to agents with innovative ideas for attracting new-to-river cruise customers. CLIA has also opened nominations for the 2023 CLIA Cruise Master Award, encouraging agents with the master level certification to self-nominate.
Andy Harmer, CLIA UK & Ireland MD, stated: “Cruise trade enquiries and bookings are on the crest of a wave and we’re determined to help agents capitalise on that momentum.”
The enhancements to CLIA’s website provide a robust platform for agents to leverage improved resources and tools, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the cruise industry.
