The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has announced plans to host two expedition-themed dinners, aimed at celebrating the significant growth and popularity of the expedition cruising sector. These events are scheduled to take place in London on 10 October and Manchester on 12 October, with both dinners commencing at 5.30pm. While the exact venues for the dinners are yet to be confirmed, registration is expected to open at the end of August for CLIA member agents.
These dinners are not merely social events, but strategic gatherings designed to provide delegates with access to the latest product updates and invaluable networking and collaboration opportunities. CLIA UK & Ireland Managing Director, Andy Harmer, highlighted the association’s dedication to supporting the trade by stating: “The expedition sector is experiencing tremendous growth and these dinners recognise this increasing demand and the growing opportunities for the trade to increase their sales.”
In addition to the dinners, CLIA continues to actively engage with the travel trade through a series of initiatives and activities tailored to the expedition cruising niche. These initiatives include residential events, showcases, and a continuing series of webinars, all aimed at enhancing the expertise and knowledge of travel agents within the expedition sector.
Furthermore, in July, the association sought the views of travel agents on sustainability and responsible travel. This initiative is aimed at informing the development of trade-friendly resources and training materials, thereby fostering an environment conducive to the creation of a more sustainable cruising industry.
The upcoming dinners signify CLIA’s commitment to promoting the expedition cruising sector and addressing industry challenges like sustainability.
