- 320 Englobe employees join Ortec’s Global Services division, now called Biogénie.
- This move aligns with a 25-year presence in the French market by Ortec.
In a noteworthy move to broaden its geographical footprint, Canadian soil remediation firm Ortec has acquired the US-based Englobe. This acquisition extends Ortec’s reach into the UK and France, signifying a crucial step in its expansion strategy. Englobe, a well-established entity with an annual turnover of approximately CA$180 million, provides a variety of environmental services including soil treatment facilities, composting centres, and site remediation. By integrating Englobe’s capabilities, Ortec positions itself to leverage these services within the UK market, reflecting a forward-thinking approach in the sector.
The transition sees 320 of Englobe’s employees becoming part of Ortec’s Global Services division, which will be rebranded as Biogénie. This integration facilitates a seamless amalgamation of expertise and services, promising enhanced operations and service delivery in regions previously untapped by Ortec. Notably, this strategic move enables Ortec to deepen its influence within the UK and US soil and waste treatment markets, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable growth.
Ortec’s presence in the French market for over 25 years underscores its commitment to establishing and maintaining strong market positions. Alain Robichaud, director for Biogénie’s North American and UK activities, highlighted the synergy between both companies: “By joining Ortec, Biogénie is integrating a major player in environmental services which will promote sustainable growth. Having worked together in the past, we know Ortec’s in-depth expertise, their services complementing our own, and the reputation for trust and innovation of this independent, family-owned group.” Such statements accentuate the intended collaborative strength and enduring partnership fostered by this acquisition.
This strategic acquisition marks a significant expansion for Ortec into the UK market.
