Brendan Bah, a human resources veteran with nearly 30 years of experience, has become an integral part of LCF Law’s specialist employment law division, located in Yorkshire. His extensive career includes significant roles at organisations like Leeds Arts University, Fox’s Biscuits, Asda, and the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Trust. Such a varied background allows Bah to bring vast and diverse expertise to his new role.
At LCF Law’s Leeds office, Brendan Bah will operate as an employment law advisor. In this capacity, he will directly support James Austin, a seasoned partner and specialist within the employment law sector at LCF Law. Bah’s responsibilities are extensive and include advising on a wide range of human resources concerns. Key among these are handling disciplinaries, managing grievances, overseeing redundancies, conducting hearings, and drafting as well as updating employment contracts. He will also be instrumental in interpreting legislative changes for both colleagues and clients.
Additionally, Brendan Bah will offer his expertise to a variety of businesses, particularly those affiliated with the LCF Works programme. This initiative provides comprehensive employment law and HR advisory packages, which include unlimited access to telephone and written advice, as well as vital documentation. A significant part of Bah’s role will also involve participating in LCF Law’s presentations. Among these is the delivery of free mock employment tribunals, which are designed to furnish employers with practical insights into the functioning of employment tribunal hearings.
Brendan Bah articulated his perspective by stating: ‘HR legislation is continually evolving, and employers must be aware of the latest changes so they can be included in policies and procedures. However, generally these are similar across most industries, albeit tailored to specific roles and businesses. Many businesses don’t have a dedicated HR person and need advice on implementing their policies and procedures or even want someone else to conduct meetings or hearings for them. As an experienced HR adviser this is one of the areas where I can add value to a business.’
James Austin, a partner at LCF Law, praised Bah’s capabilities: ‘Brendan is vastly experienced and will be a great asset to our team. He’s handled everyday HR issues but has also carried out complex projects like large-scale redundancies, and can act as an in-house HR manager and advisor for businesses as and when they require it. When this is combined with our legal expertise for more specialist matters, it adds to our already very compelling offering for businesses.’
Brendan Bah’s appointment at LCF Law promises to strengthen their employment law advisory team, benefiting a wide client base.
