Bobcat, a prominent US-based construction equipment manufacturer, has commenced the development of its new €280 million (£240 million) production facility in Mexico, situated within Salinas Victoria, a municipality on the outskirts of Monterrey, in the state of Nuevo Leon. The factory is projected to be completed and fully operational by 2026, offering an expansive production area of 65,000 square metres. This strategic expansion underscores Bobcat’s aspiration to enhance its manufacturing capabilities specifically for compact track and skid-steer loaders, meeting a growing customer demand.
The operationalisation of this new factory will not replace existing production lines but rather supplement them, as Bobcat’s compact loaders will continue to be manufactured in its current US and Czech Republic facilities. Scott Park, CEO and vice-chair of Doosan Bobcat, articulated, “We have seen tremendous growth across our business, and this new facility will support our long-range plans for increased production to meet customer demand.”
In its design, the factory targets LEED Silver certification, aligning with Bobcat’s aim to incorporate energy efficiency and precision in its manufacturing processes. This move not only showcases the company’s commitment to quality and sustainability but also highlights its forward-thinking approach to industrial development. According to Mike Ballweber, President of Doosan Bobcat North America, “Our investment here demonstrates our confidence in this manufacturing environment and thriving local economy.” Bobcat has entrusted the design responsibilities to Shultz & Associates, a US-based architecture firm experienced with Bobcat’s North American projects, while the construction management is led by GP Construcción, a division specialising in industrial facilities across Mexico. The collaboration capitalises on local expertise and international design standards.
