Bill Allen, the longstanding chief supply officer at On the Beach, has revealed plans to step down in September 2025. After dedicating over a decade to the online travel agency (OTA), his exit marks the end of a significant era for the company. Allen joined On the Beach in 2014 and has since been pivotal in managing the supply of key services including accommodation, aviation, transportation, and ancillary products.
With a career extending over 30 years in influential management positions within the travel industry, Allen is known for his contributions to both MyTravel and On Holiday Group. His tenure at On the Beach was marked by notable achievements, most prominently the public listing of the company on the London Stock Exchange in 2015. Additionally, he was a driving force in One the Beach’s transition towards sourcing over 90% of hotel rooms directly from hoteliers, a strategic move that redefined the company’s operational paradigm.
Allen expressed that his departure had been meticulously planned in conjunction with On the Beach’s leadership and his family, ensuring a seamless transition. ‘I have planned this next stage in close collaboration with the leadership team at On the Beach, and my family, for some time,’ he stated, underscoring the foresight and collaborative spirit underpinning his decision.
Reflecting on his tenure, Allen remarked: ‘I’ve had the pleasure of working with some fantastic teams at On the Beach over the last eleven years and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together.’ This sentiment is shared by On the Beach’s chief executive, Shaun Morton, who commended Allen for his unwavering dedication and significant contributions, acknowledging the void his departure will create but also appreciating the expert guidance he will provide during the transitional phase.
In light of his forthcoming departure, Allen is looking forward to more personal time while also planning to maintain his engagement with the travel industry through advisory and non-executive roles, stating, ‘In terms of what will come next, I’m looking forward to some more leisure time with my family while continuing to support the wider travel industry through non-executive and advisory work.’
Bill Allen’s departure from On the Beach marks the end of an impactful chapter yet assures continued influence in the travel sector.
