In a significant move to enhance its fleet, Essex-based Big G Logistics has added a high specification Renault T480 High 6×2 tractor, positioning it as their flagship vehicle. This acquisition aims to underscore the company’s commitment to both performance and driver satisfaction. The company, which manages a fleet of ten HGVs and five vans, highlighted the tractor’s driver appeal, fuel economy, and exceptional service from their Renault Trucks dealer as primary reasons for their choice.
Supplied by Norfolk Truck and Van, the new T480 High joins a black 23-plate T High and a Renault Trucks Master RED Edition van in Big G Logistics’ fleet. Powered by a 13-litre engine, the vehicle is designed for maximum driver comfort with features like air suspension, a luxury driver’s seat, and an enhanced cab interior. The inclusion of the Brigade Direct Vision Standard (DVS) compliant safety kit, coupled with cameras to improve indirect vision, underscores Big G Logistics’ commitment to road safety and compliance with modern safety standards.
The vehicle’s aesthetic enhancements, including a high-quality paint finish and additional light options, are not merely superficial. They reflect a broader strategy to align operational functionality with a professional appearance. Director George Denman noted the importance of driver satisfaction, sharing that his drivers take considerable pride in the vehicles they operate. He expressed this sentiment, saying, “I like to look after my drivers with a high spec driving experience.”
From a functional perspective, the T480 High is deployed on the firm’s The Pallet Network (TPN) routes, which involve servicing blue chip companies where fuel economy is crucial. The tractor is equipped with Optivision Map Based gear shift strategy for FUEL ECO, ensuring it anticipates terrain topography to maximise fuel savings. Additionally, the ECO Cruise control and Optiroll feature further optimise fuel consumption, which is vital given the fleet’s substantial monthly fuel costs.
Moreover, Big G Logistics utilises a five-year subscription to Optifleet Check, a system designed to monitor and enhance vehicle and driver performance to further reduce energy costs. Denman highlighted the impressive fuel efficiency of the T480s, stating that the innovations are saving the company at least £30 per night in fuel costs. These savings, he added, significantly impact the company’s financial performance, supporting a more sustainable and profitable business model.
The addition of the Renault T480 High epitomises Big G Logistics’ forward-thinking approach, combining driver satisfaction, safety, and operational efficiency.
