Barrhead Travel marked a significant achievement with its record-breaking sales over the weekend, following an innovative approach where more than 30 directors and head office staff supported their retail colleagues in various UK locations. The ‘Back to the Floor’ day, held on January 27, played a crucial role in enhancing the in-store experience and boosting sales figures.
Jacqueline Dobson, the president of Barrhead Travel, expressed her satisfaction over the sales performance, stating that customers prioritised holidays despite adverse weather conditions impacting travel advisories in some regions. According to Dobson, “Holidays were the top spending priority,” affirming their confidence in seeing record sales numbers, though acknowledging the necessity of a week-by-week assessment.
Further, Dobson mentioned the success of their retail network in achieving the highest conversion rate to date, with a focus on popular destinations like Tenerife, Majorca, Barbados, and Alicante, alongside cruises departing from Southampton. This surge underscores a growing consumer confidence and a sustained interest in travel.
Sales and marketing director, Nicki Tempest-Mitchell, shared insights on the remarkable weekend, attributing success to extraordinary team camaraderie and customer service. She emphasised the proactive nature of customers, noting that many arrived in branches with clear travel plans, thereby underlining the importance of providing genuine advice and value-for-money solutions.
An innovative aspect of the weekend was inviting 30 supplier partners to observe operations within the travel branches, providing them a unique glimpse into the agency’s functioning during peak times. This initiative reinforced Barrhead’s commitment to collaborative growth and improving supplier relationships.
Barrhead Travel’s strategic initiatives and exemplary team spirit have set a promising precedent for continued success in 2024.
