Bam Construction has officially commenced work on a major new sports centre in Bedworth, Warwickshire. Bam Construction has embarked on a significant endeavour to create a new sports facility in Bedworth, Warwickshire. This project, valued at £18 million, signifies a substantial investment in the community, replacing a leisure centre that has been serving the area since the 1970s. The new facility, termed the Physical Activity Hub, is set to enhance the scope of sports and leisure activities available to local residents.
The new sports centre is designed to foster a wide range of physical activities, both indoors and outdoors. Inside, the centre will boast a 25-metre, eight-lane swimming pool along with a learner pool, providing ample space for aquatic activities. In addition, it will house a four-court sports hall and a comprehensive 100-station fitness suite, complemented by a dedicated fitness studio.
Outdoors, the facility will feature a green gym area, catering to those who prefer exercising amidst nature. The addition of a 3G sports pitch will accommodate various team sports, while a skate park and a bicycle learning facility will ensure there are options for all age groups and preferences. This variety aims to encourage widespread participation in physical activities, promoting health and well-being across the community.
The project has secured financial backing from prominent organisations, with Sport England contributing £2.5 million and an additional £14.95 million from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.
