Avalon Waterways is making its debut investment in the Irish travel trade.
- The company partners exclusively with agents through ASM Ireland.
- A special fam trip is offered for agents booking by February 2025.
- Lesley Taylor cites rising demand from Irish consumers.
- Alan Sparling supports the partnership, highlighting market interest.
Avalon Waterways has announced its first foray into the Irish travel trade market, marking a significant development in the realm of river cruising. The company will now sell its itineraries exclusively through travel agents in Ireland, thanks to a strategic partnership with ASM Ireland, a move that underscores its commitment to the region.
In an effort to engage the local trade community, Avalon Waterways is offering an enticing opportunity for agents. All agents who secure bookings between now and the end of February 2025 will be in the running to win a place on a familiarisation trip aboard one of the cruise line’s esteemed ships in 2025. This initiative not only incentivises agents but also showcases Avalon’s dedication to building robust trade relationships.
Lesley Taylor, the managing director for Avalon Waterways UK and Ireland, emphasised the importance of this strategic shift, noting an increase in booking inquiries from Irish consumers in recent years. According to Taylor, Ireland’s market demand was a key motivator for Avalon’s increased investment, reflecting a clear response to the region’s needs: “Ireland has asked, and we have delivered,” she stated.
The partnership is further bolstered by the enthusiasm from Alan Sparling, managing director of ASM Ireland. Sparling expressed excitement over the collaboration, pointing out the persistent growth in interest for river cruises among Irish consumers. This partnership represents a timely opportunity for Avalon Waterways to capitalise on this heightened demand, providing agents the tools they need to succeed.
Avalon Waterways’ strategic investment in the Irish market through partnerships signifies a promising venture into an expanding travel niche.
