Windstar Cruises has announced the appointment of Augustus Lonsdale to the pivotal role of Head of UK Sales. Lonsdale, who brings with him significant experience from AmaWaterways, where he spent seven years as Head of Commercial and Marketing for the UK and Europe, is set to provide strategic leadership to elevate Windstar’s activities within the UK.
Lonsdale’s responsibilities encompass building and managing relationships with new and existing trade partners. This effort is aimed at expanding the company’s reach through the travel trade. He will work with key agents who already collaborate closely with Windstar, as well as partnerships through the General Sales Agent at The Cruise Line.
In his new position, Lonsdale is expected to support the company in implementing strategy and core initiatives. He will play a crucial role in increasing brand awareness across the UK and Ireland, aligning with the company’s growth objectives.
Dianna Rom, Windstar Cruises’ Vice-President of Sales, highlighted Lonsdale’s strong track record in delivering commercial success and strategic expansion. Rom stated, “I’m delighted to welcome Augustus on board. He has a strong track record of delivering commercial value and strategic growth, and I’m confident that this, combined with his energy and passion for the cruise industry, will prove invaluable as we look to grow the business in the UK and Ireland.”
Augustus Lonsdale himself expressed enthusiasm about his new role, citing his previous positive experiences with Windstar Cruises. “I’m excited to be joining Windstar Cruises, a brand I have admired for a number of years ever since I first cruised with them back in the mid-2000s,” Lonsdale said. “Having experienced both all-suite Star class Plus and Wind class ships, I am already familiar with the product and can’t wait to share my knowledge and passion with our trade partners and help drive forward Windstar’s growth plans.”
Augustus Lonsdale’s appointment marks a strategic move to bolster Windstar Cruises’ position in the UK market.
