Ascott Transport Limited (ATL) has significantly expanded its operational capabilities by opening a new warehouse at its Midlands hub in Foston, Derbyshire. This move is a strategic response to growing client demand and is part of an extensive eight-figure investment. Such expansion positions ATL as a pivotal player in the region’s logistics sector, reinforcing their commitment to client satisfaction and service delivery.
The development is a collaboration with contractor GF Tomlinson, marking their second successful project with ATL. The state-of-the-art facility includes a 127,000sq ft warehouse equipped with 14 loading bays, office spaces, welfare rooms, and extensive concrete yards. These enhancements ensure that ATL can efficiently handle increased logistical demands, thereby supporting both new and long-standing clients.
Central to the warehouse’s design is its technologically advanced infrastructure. A key feature is the jointless internal floor, facilitating seamless movement of semi and fully automated Material Handling Equipment (MHE). Furthermore, the warehouse incorporates sustainable energy solutions, such as photovoltaic panels fulfilling its entire energy needs. This is complemented by an environmentally conscious construction approach, evidenced by the reuse of surplus soil and the establishment of an attenuation pond.
The initial phase of this developmental effort saw ATL nearly double its operational capacity, featuring a 190,000sq ft high-bay warehouse and comprehensive logistics facilities. The new warehouse not only extends ATL’s service offerings but also firmly establishes its status as a major logistics hub within the Midlands. This infrastructure evolution is aligned with ATL’s broader strategic aims, paving the way for enhanced client service and operational excellence.
The successful completion of this project has not only expanded ATL’s storage capabilities by adding 21,000 pallet positions but has also underscored the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in logistics. ATL Managing Director, Pete Ascott, highlighted the role of GF Tomlinson as a consistent partner, contributing to the project’s success and facilitating ATL’s ambitious growth plans.
The opening of the new warehouse marks a significant step forward for ATL in its strategic expansion and commitment to quality service.
