Hampshire Trust Bank has appointed Alex Upton as the head of its bridging division, marking a significant leadership transition following the departure of Jamie Jolly. Since joining HTB in May 2022, Jolly has been instrumental in developing the bank’s bridging proposition, building a trusted team, and delivering excellent results for brokers and their clients. His decision to step down opens the door for Upton to usher in a new era of leadership, intended to foster even closer collaboration between the bridging and specialist mortgage teams.
Jolly expressed satisfaction with what has been achieved during his tenure, underscoring the team’s success in establishing a solid position in the market. He remarked, ‘Since joining the bank, I’ve had the privilege of working with an exceptional team to build HTB’s Bridging offering into one of the most trusted in the market.’ Leaving as the bridging division is performing strongly, Jolly is optimistic about the division’s future under Upton’s guidance.
Upton, previously the managing director of specialist mortgages, is poised to take HTB’s bridging division forward. Her leadership promises enhancements in the service brokers receive, such as quick decisions and expert advice, alongside ensuring continuity with the familiar points of contact for brokers. She emphasises maintaining personalised service while aligning all lending divisions strategically to deliver optimal outcomes for brokers and their clients.
Distinctively, Upton clarified that her expanded role is not about merging teams but about providing oversight to explore deeper into each division’s potential. She articulated, ‘It’s about being more strategic, finding ways to offer more to our brokers, and challenging ourselves to go further.’ With strong, dedicated teams across both bridging and specialist mortgages, HTB is set to explore new opportunities to better support its brokers amid an evolving market landscape.
Alex Upton’s leadership marks a strategic transition focused on enhancing broker services and exploring growth opportunities.
