The Aito Business Confidence Tracker has recently revealed a notable boom in confidence within the travel industry, reflecting an exceptional outlook across its tour operator and travel agent members. This surge in optimism is underscored by a significant increase in the business confidence index score, which has reached an unprecedented level of 60, a notable climb from its previous zenith of 42 in 2022. Such an upward trajectory emphasises the current buoyancy within the sector.
Analysis from the survey, conducted in January, explains that nearly 80% of Aito’s members – encompassing both specialist tour operators and travel agents – have reported an uptick in turnover during the final quarter of 2023 compared to the previous year. Moreover, an impressive 62% anticipate their turnover will continue to climb over the coming year, suggesting a sustained trend of growth and optimism among industry professionals.
Martyn Sumners, Aito’s executive director, has expressed delight over the positive sentiment, attributing it to the hard work and adaptability of Aito members. “We’re delighted to see such a positive outlook for Aito’s specialist tour operator and agent members, which reflects the busy start to the year,” he noted.
