In a landmark deal that signals a major shift in London’s private hire market, the iconic Addison Lee has been sold to Singapore-based transport powerhouse ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited. The sale, which was handled by top law firm Linklaters, sees ComfortDelGro acquire the entire shareholding of Addison Lee, a renowned name in London’s premium private hire, courier, and black taxi services.
This acquisition marks a significant move for ComfortDelGro as it seeks to expand into the premium mobility sector, particularly in the UK. By taking over Addison Lee, the company bolsters its global taxi and private hire network to more than 34,000 vehicles, strengthening its presence in a highly competitive market. ComfortDelGro’s expanded fleet now positions it as a serious player in the UK’s point-to-point transportation industry.
The deal, structured and advised on by Linklaters’ expert team, was led by Private Equity partner Andrew Lynch and Corporate M&A partner Namrata Shah. They were supported by a cross-disciplinary group, including Banking partner Nick Le Masurier, Litigation partner Rory Conway, and Tax partner Alexei Franks. The team was rounded out by Private Equity managing associate William Peck and Corporate M&A associate Monique Fraser.
This transaction is set to accelerate ComfortDelGro’s UK growth strategy, capitalising on Addison Lee’s established market reputation for premium transport services.
