Accord Mortgages has officially become a signatory of the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC), a pivotal move that aligns with its ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing. The charter was created to foster a culture of openness and understanding about mental health challenges that professionals in the mortgage industry face. Accord Mortgages now stands alongside seven co-founding firms and numerous other signatories in this initiative.
The charter demands signatories adhere to six comprehensive rules designed to exemplify industry-leading practices in mental health and wellbeing. The inclusion of Accord Mortgages highlights its dedication to embracing these principles as part of its core operations. Nicola Alvarez, Senior Manager of Proposition Development at Accord Mortgages, remarked on the significance of supporting mental wellbeing in high-pressure sectors such as theirs, where employees often deal with tight schedules and sensitive financial matters.
Alvarez emphasised that investing in the wellbeing of employees not only enhances organisational culture but also contributes to commercial success. With existing mental wellbeing initiatives, support programmes, and an Inclusion and Diversity Charter, Accord Mortgages sees joining the MIMHC as a natural step forward in its mission to support its colleagues comprehensively.
MIMHC’s mission is championed by Jason Berry, both a co-founder of the charter and the Group Sales Director at Crystal Specialist Finance. He praised Accord Mortgages for its commitment and highlighted the importance of spreading awareness and driving systemic change across the mortgage industry. Berry articulated a strong vision for significantly increased collaboration and support for mental health, aiming for a more compassionate and supportive environment across the sector.
Accord Mortgages’ signing of the MIMHC signifies a meaningful stride towards better mental health support within the mortgage industry.
