Alex Mallet has been announced as the new Chief Technology Officer at Primer, a forward-thinking fintech firm based in London. With an illustrious career spanning over two decades, Mallet brings a wealth of experience garnered from senior roles in tech giants such as Amazon and Microsoft. At Amazon, he was pivotal in managing software development and product localisation across multiple regions, while at Microsoft he excelled as a development manager.
Primer, known for its cutting-edge payment infrastructure for merchants, achieved a valuation approaching half a billion dollars following a significant £38 million funding round in 2021. Gabriel Le Roux, Primer’s co-founder and CEO, expressed his confidence in Mallet, stating that his impressive track record in building global engineering teams will be instrumental in advancing Primer’s suite of products. “As we continue to lead the charge in payment innovation for global customers, it’s crucial that we bring in experienced leaders to champion our vision,” Le Roux remarked.
Mallet’s move to Primer signifies a continuation of his commitment to innovation in technology. Previously, he led the engineering department of the Berlin-based logistics startup Forto. His decision to remain in Berlin while contributing to Primer suggests a modern approach to leadership and business management. Mallet himself has expressed enthusiasm about joining Primer, highlighting the company’s innovative strategies and their alignment with his personal belief in creating outstanding products that address customer issues. “I’m excited to evolve Primer’s offerings, focusing on feature-richness, reliability, and security, to drive even greater value for our customers,” Mallet commented.
Although he will operate from Berlin, the move does not impede the predominantly remote management of Primer’s business operations. This arrangement allows the firm to capitalise on Mallet’s expertise while maintaining operational efficiency across different locales.
Alex Mallet’s appointment as CTO marks a promising new chapter in Primer’s journey towards technological excellence.
