Scheduled for June 5-7, the 2024 Thai Travel Mart Plus will take place at JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort and Spa. This prominent event aims to highlight Thailand’s dedication towards sustainable tourism by bringing together buyers and sellers from across the globe.
The event anticipates participation from over 950 individuals, including 420 buyers from key markets like Europe, ASEAN, and North America. This is seen as a crucial step in promoting Thailand’s tourism industry’s shift towards sustainability and meaningful travel experiences.
Participants can engage in pre-tours exploring Phang-nga, focusing on wellness, soft adventure, and sustainability, an hour’s drive from Phuket International Airport.
Additionally, post-tour opportunities allow attendees to explore Thailand’s diverse regions, enhancing their understanding of the country’s multifaceted tourism offerings.
These tours aim to emphasise sustainable practices and provide insights into various local attractions, reinforcing Thailand’s reputation as a sustainable travel destination.
Since its inception in 2001, the Thai Travel Mart Plus has historically been held in Bangkok, reflecting the event’s growth and adaptability.
The event relocated to Chiang Mai in 2016-17 and Pattaya in 2018-19, demonstrating a strategic move to showcase diverse Thai locales. Last year, it returned to the capital, reinforcing its roots.
The 2024 relocation to Khao Lak underscores the region’s increasing relevance in sustainable tourism, marking a significant milestone in the event’s evolution.
TAT’s international marketing deputy governor, Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to ensuring substantial outcomes for participants and the local tourism sector.
