Boots has announced a new budget range amid the UK’s cost-of-living crisis.
The own-label range of health and beauty essentials includes shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste and period products at prices ranging from 50p to £1.50.
Boots said the 60 items in its ‘everyday’ lineup are available online at Boots.com from Wednesday and will be rolled out to over 1,000 stores in the next few weeks.
The budget brand would allow customers to make “small everyday switches to help save money,” according to Jenna Whittingham-Ward, head of beauty for Boots brands and exclusives.
With UK inflation at a 40-year high of 10.1%, driven by soaring prices of energy, food and fuel, many shoppers are looking to save money where they can.
“Jesse Boot, who founded the company over 170 years ago, believed that quality products should be accessible to everyone, and I am delighted that the new everyday range delivers on those founding principles,” Whittingham-Ward said.
A key challenge for Boots is stopping its customers turning to the discounters and other supermarkets, The Grocer reports.
The retailer has already frozen the price of more than 1,500 own-label products until at least the end of the year.
