VitrA Tiles has officially launched its solar power plant in Aksaray, marking a significant step in its commitment to sustainability.
As a key player within the Eczacıbaşı Group, VitrA Tiles continues to prioritise green energy solutions. The newly completed Solar Power Plant (SPP) in Aksaray is now fully operational, reinforcing the company’s shift towards sustainable energy sources. Following the installation of a 3.5 MW rooftop solar power plant in Bozüyük in 2023, this 30 MWe/36 MWp facility represents a substantial development in VitrA Tiles’ renewable energy transition. Thanks to this initiative, over half of the electricity used in its Turkish operations this year will come from sustainable sources.
Advancing with Renewable Energy
Designed to supply a major portion of VitrA Tiles’ electricity needs, the Aksaray SPP is set to generate enough power to sustain around 19,700 households annually. Equipped with 65,520 PV modules, each with a 550 Wp capacity, the facility is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 37,190 tonnes per year.
VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu emphasised the company’s ambitious sustainability goals, stating: “We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”
Installation of the Aksaray SPP commenced in April 2024, with electricity production beginning in February 2025 following the successful integration of PV modules, cabling, inverters, transformers, and power transmission lines. This project not only delivers environmental and economic advantages but also sets a new standard in the industry through its innovative energy approach.
