TUI River Cruises has officially launched its inaugural Nile River ship, the TUI Al Horeya, in Luxor. This significant occasion was highlighted by a visually stunning ceremony featuring 100 biodegradable candles, made by local artisans, which adorned the river as a symbol of blessing for the ship’s maiden voyage to Luxor Temple.
Throughout the event, attendees were treated to a rich tapestry of cultural performances. The night was animated by a live sand artist narrating the history of the Nile, alongside mesmerising traditional Whirling Dervishes. To conclude the celebration, guests indulged in a gala dinner accompanied by live entertainment.
The TUI Al Horeya is now set to begin its initial journey along the Nile. It will subsequently embark on a series of seven-night, all-inclusive round-trips from Luxor. This new service is designed to host 141 passengers in 72 cabins, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Onboard amenities feature a versatile Top Deck that functions as a swimming pool and hot tub area during the day and transforms into Felucca, an open-air dining experience, by night.
During each cruise, passengers have the opportunity to engage with two onboard Egyptologists, gaining insights into the rich history of the Nile. The ‘Legends of the Nile’ itinerary promises visits to historical highlights such as Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Aswan.
Katy Berzins, Head of TUI River Cruises, expressed the company’s excitement about this milestone, noting that the TUI Al Horeya is the first ship of the brand to sail outside European waters. She highlighted the strong interest in their winter Nile programme, with 80% already sold, and continued enthusiasm as new bookings arrive weekly.
Given the robust demand experienced in 2024, TUI River Cruises has announced plans to introduce a second vessel, the TUI Bahareya, on the Nile for the following winter. This move underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its footprint in this historic region.
TUI River Cruises looks forward to an exciting season on the Nile with promising prospects.
