The Voiceover Gallery has announced a new division aimed at children aged between 5 and 16, emphasising inclusivity and talent within the voiceover industry. This move signifies the company’s dedication to nurturing young talent by offering opportunities that cater to a broader range of individuals.
This strategic expansion into the children’s voiceover market developed following a request to find an autistic child actor for the popular animation series, Thomas & Friends. Marylou Thistleton-Smith, the founder, noted that this opportunity highlighted the demand and necessity for diverse children’s representation in the industry, suggesting a market gap ready for exploration.
TVG Kids intends to be a forerunner in supporting children from various backgrounds, including those with special educational needs such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, and hearing impairments. The organisation is poised to offer robust support systems ensuring every child’s potential is realised irrespective of their circumstances.
To achieve this, The Voiceover Gallery assures that all staff, including project managers, engineers, and directors, are not only DBS-checked but also proficient in engaging with children across the spectrum of needs. This thorough approach is designed to manage every aspect of casting and recording, ensuring a seamless and supportive environment for all involved.
The Voiceover Gallery’s establishment of a children’s division marks a meaningful step toward greater inclusivity in the voiceover industry.
