The Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA), a pivotal organisation with almost 2,000 members, has announced that Steven Mulholland will assume the role of chief executive starting 12 August 2024. This appointment follows Mulholland’s considerable tenure within the organisation, having contributed as a council member for ten years and holding the position of chair. Mulholland also manages a family business, Mulholland Plant Services, adding practical industry experience to his comprehensive understanding of CPA dynamics.
In his statement, Mulholland expressed his delight at his new appointment, underscoring the significance of continuity within the organisation. He acknowledged the commendable efforts of the CPA Council members, staff, and the executive team in bringing the association to its current state of growth and professionalism. “It has grown in numbers and improved in professionalism in the services we are able to offer members, and this must continue in an ever-changing world,” Mulholland remarked.
Brian Jones, the CPA president, extended his best wishes to Mulholland, highlighting his extensive knowledge in the plant rental industry. Jones noted Mulholland’s familiarity with the association and its members as a significant advantage. “I am confident he will lead CPA to new levels of support for our members’ businesses,” Jones stated, emphasising the strategic leadership qualities that Mulholland is expected to bring to his new role.
Alongside this leadership change, Adam Godwin, previously the communications manager, will ascend to the position of director, directly reporting to Mulholland. This move signals a strategic strengthening of the CPA’s communication strategies under the new leadership paradigm.
