Continental has launched the ‘Tyre IQ’ hub at this year’s Road Transport Expo (RTX), held at NAEC Stoneleigh from 4 to 6 June. This innovative platform is dedicated to providing a wealth of advice, guidance, data, and training specifically tailored for fleet operators within the commercial vehicle sector. As a comprehensive resource, ‘Tyre IQ’ amalgamates educational materials that are continually updated to reflect current sector-specific legislation and regulations.
A significant component of ‘Tyre IQ’ is the ContiAcademy, Continental’s in-house training school based in Lutterworth. This educational body plays a crucial role in equipping drivers, operators, and technicians with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the evolving landscape of tyre technology and maintenance. In conjunction with this, the recently updated TireTech app offers enhanced features, including guidance on van and campervan tyres, and a diagnostic module designed to identify variations and anomalies in Continental-family tyres.
The launch of ‘Tyre IQ’ highlights Continental’s longstanding dedication to publishing manufacturer-agnostic, informative content aimed at benefiting any operator, irrespective of their tyre brand preferences. According to Steve Howat, Technical Services General Manager at Continental Tyres, “Continental has, and will continue to, position itself as a lead provider of tyre know-how for stakeholders in and around the transport and logistics sectors.” His sentiments are echoed by Stefan Hay, Chief Executive of the National Tyre Distributor Association, who praised the initiative for elevating the standard of resources available to the tyre trade.
Earlier this year, Continental expanded its educational offerings by adding four new tyre awareness videos to an existing series. These episodes delve into essential topics such as roadside and workshop tyre fitting, addressing irregular wear in truck tyres, and exploring the multifaceted construction of truck tyres. Furthermore, updates to the TireTech app have consolidated its status as a vital tool for maintenance teams, particularly with the inclusion of regrooving information, making it an indispensable asset for truck and bus users.
The introduction of ‘Tyre IQ’ reinforces Continental’s role in spearheading educational advancements in tyre technology for the transport sector.
