Scania sets ambitious target with new EV charging initiative, Erinion.
- Erinion to install 40,000 charging points across Europe by 2030.
- Strategy supports broad EV adoption, irrespective of vehicle brand.
- Enhanced solutions promise significant cost savings and efficiency gains.
- Erinion launches in six European countries, including the UK.
Scania has embarked on a pioneering venture with the launch of Erinion, a company dedicated to developing private and semi-public charging solutions. This bold initiative aims to advance the electric vehicle landscape by installing an impressive 40,000 charging points across various customer locations by the year 2030.
Erinion will adopt a brand-agnostic approach, thereby supporting a wide spectrum of businesses regardless of their vehicle brand. This strategic decision is designed to encourage more widespread adoption of electric vehicles and propel the shift towards more sustainable fleet solutions.
Among the benefits touted by Erinion are the implementation of predictable charging schedules and enhanced operational efficiency. Crucially, customers are anticipated to experience significant financial savings, with annual operational costs potentially reduced by up to €15,000 (£12,600) per truck.
Importantly, Erinion’s rollout has already commenced in key European markets, such as the UK, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, France, and Germany. This strategic deployment is expected to provide businesses with the reliable infrastructure necessary to embrace electric mobility more fully.
The innovative pricing models offered by Erinion are particularly noteworthy, providing customers with flexible options to suit varying financial strategies. These models range from a standard reseller setup to a hybrid-flexible pricing system, integrating financial leases, down payments, and rolling service fees.
Scania’s leadership has underscored the transformative potential of this charging initiative. Jonas Hernlund, Scania Group’s head of energy and infrastructure, articulated the peace of mind that Erinion’s comprehensive service delivers, enabling customers to concentrate on core business activities. Similarly, Gustaf Sundell, an executive within the Scania Group, highlighted the initiative’s role in shaping the future transport ecosystem through electric solutions.
Scania’s Erinion initiative is poised to play a pivotal role in fostering the transition to sustainable transport across Europe.
