In a notable expansion of its fleet, Roy Braidwood & Sons Transport, based in Manchester, has integrated two Renault C440 8×4 tippers. These vehicles, equipped with sleeper cabs, signify the first inclusion of Renault in their 35-strong, eight-wheel tipper fleet. Traditionally reliant on another manufacturer, this strategic acquisition aims to enhance their operational capacity primarily in aggregate and muckaway tasks across the North West of England.
The decision to opt for Renault trucks was largely influenced by the company’s comprehensive understanding of various vehicle manufacturers, due to their extensive workshop operations. Roy Braidwood, the director, elaborates on their firsthand experiences, “We operate a large and extensive workshop where we repair and maintain vehicles for third party operators. This has provided us with a solid understanding of the vehicles from various manufacturers, offering valuable insights into the good, the bad and the ugly!” Such insights have instilled confidence in Renault’s craftsmanship, prompting the decision to update their fleet with these vehicles.
Roy Braidwood & Sons is distinguished by its vehicles’ unique blue livery and the notable slogan, “Don’t be late in the morning,” which has adorned the fleet for generations. Braidwood notes, “Our company motto always grabs attention and often leads to new business opportunities from customers that appreciate our traditional family values.” This slogan is more than a catchy phrase; it embodies the legacy of a family business that prides itself on its heritage, tracing back to Roy Braidwood’s father.
The vehicles were supplied by JDS Truck and Van, a move that not only signifies a significant investment in the future of their transport operations but also a nod towards maintaining traditional business values in a modernising industry. The Braidwoods continue to build on the foundation laid by the previous generation, ensuring that their business values and operational strategies evolve in tandem with industry advancements.
Roy Braidwood & Sons Transport’s integration of Renault C440 tippers reflects both strategic foresight and a commitment to honouring their familial legacy.
