Urban regeneration firm Summix has secured outline permission to commence a significant development project at the junction of Rush Lane and Tamworth Road, located south of Tamworth. This approval marks a pivotal step in transforming 17 acres of derelict brownfield land into an expansive commercial space, spanning approximately 220,000 square feet. Designed to enhance the local economy, the initiative promises to bolster job creation through a variety of infrastructures catering to research, commercial, and industrial sectors.
Initial plans for residential development on this site were reconsidered upon the determination that commercial use would better serve the region’s economic needs. Summix’s development director, Stuart Black, emphasised the anticipated economic boost from this project, underscoring its potential to attract further investment and business opportunities to the area.
The planning application, having been deferred previously, gained approval this time, reflecting the refined and comprehensive plans that Summix presented. Access to the development is planned via the existing site entrance on the A51 Tamworth Road in the village of Dosthill, ensuring connectivity and ease of access.
