Dachser has officially launched a direct daily service between the UK and Milan, Italy. This development comes as a response to increased demands for streamlined European export connections, following the recent implementation of a smart border connect solution. The company emphasises that this addition not only provides an efficient link between these regions but also offers enhanced convenience for both British and Irish exporters.
The introduction of this service is anticipated to bring about substantial improvements in logistics efficiency. By minimising terminal handling and accelerating transit times, Dachser aims to offer significant benefits to its clientele. Such enhancements are crucial in maintaining competitive pre-Brexit transit times and ensuring robust service quality across its market-leading European groupage network.
Earlier this year, Dachser augmented its presence in Italy by acquiring 80% of Fercam’s shares in the groupage and contract logistics sectors. The partnership solidifies Dachser’s operations and expands its footprint in the Italian logistics market, establishing the newly formed entity Dachser & Fercam Italia. Andy Wolstenholme, operations manager at Dachser Rochdale, remarked that this new daily service exemplifies the strong collaboration and shared heritage with their Italian partners.
In addition to its expanded service offerings, Dachser has bolstered its infrastructure within the UK. A new warehouse at Brackmills, Northampton has been inaugurated to accommodate an additional 20,000 pallets, a move that aligns with the growing demand for comprehensive storage and distribution services. This strategic development indicates Dachser’s commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities and meeting the evolving needs of its customers.
Dachser’s strategic initiatives signify a robust expansion in European logistics connectivity and infrastructure.
