Bristol-based King Lifting has taken delivery of six new all-terrain mobile cranes manufactured by Liebherr, a prominent German company known for their quality engineering. This acquisition includes models ranging from three-axle 60-tonne cranes to the substantial five-axle LTM 1230-5.1, which boasts a 230-tonne safe working load capacity.
The delivery so far comprises two LTM 1060-3.1s, one LTM 1090-4.2, and an LTM 1150-5.3, alongside the impressive LTM 1230-5.1 model. A second LTM 1150, rated at 150 tonnes, is expected shortly, underscoring King Lifting’s commitment to bolstering its fleet.
Notably, the five-axle LTM 1230-5.1 is equipped with an eight-section 75-metre main boom complemented by an 11.5- to 20-metre double swingaway fly jib, capable of 40 degrees offset. Under UK regulations, it can transport 22 tonnes of its maximum 72-tonne counterweight, marking it as the fifth of its kind in King Lifting’s operations.
The pair of LTM 1150-5.3s features a six-section main boom stretching 66 metres with a 10.8- to 19-metre double swingaway fly jib. A seven-metre insert enhances its operational capability, elevating the maximum tip height to nearly 95 metres and offering a radius extending to 72 metres.
All units are equipped with Liebherr’s refinery kit, improving safety in environments with flammable gases, alongside the Variobase system, which ensures safe asymmetric deployment of outriggers. Tristan King, the managing director, emphasises the strategy to standardise the fleet, providing continuity and reducing environmental impact.
Family-owned since 1982, King Lifting was founded by Bob King, who passed the management torch to his son, Tristan. The company operates over 120 cranes from multiple locations across the UK and Ireland, consolidating its position as a key player in the crane hire industry.
King Lifting’s commitment to modernising its fleet strengthens its market presence and underscores its dedication to sustainable and efficient operations.
