In a strategic move to broaden its market scope, the Pall-Ex Group has launched Pall-Ex Logistics, unifying its recently established 3PL division with five of its owned operations. This integration, encompassing Intercounty Distribution, Pall-Ex Logistics in Basildon, Shears Brothers Transport, For-Ex Distribution Network Services, and Cranleigh Distribution Services, marks a significant transition from being solely a pallet network to becoming a comprehensive logistics provider. With sites located in Northampton, Essex, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall, and Surrey, the company aims to offer an expansive range of services under a unified brand.
Pall-Ex Logistics will provide services that go beyond traditional pallet responsibilities, such as bonded warehousing, long-term and short-term storage, general haulage, and container decanting. This expansion is underscored by the deployment of Pall-Ex Logistics’ livery and branding across all locations, reinforcing the brand’s identity and service offering prowess.
Further complementing this development is the collaboration with several of Pall-Ex’s UK shareholder members, creating a network capable of storing over 300,000 pallets nationwide. This partnership aims to augment the company’s capacity to bid for contracts requiring dispersed stock storage and identity, thereby enabling members to tap into new business avenues. Kevin Buchanan, the group’s chief executive, highlighted the potential increase in shareholder participation from the current 15-20 to 25-30, striving for full national coverage.
Colin Hawkins, UK director of Pall-Ex owned operations, remarked that this launch elevates the company to a new level of service, presenting customers with a full-scale logistics solution. The core facilities, including a state-of-the-art warehouse with a 75,000 square feet area and 7,000-pallet capacity, are fundamental to Pall-Ex Logistics’ operational excellence. This investment reflects the group’s dedication to achieving superior heights in logistics.
Barry Byers, MD of Pall-Ex’s UK business units, stated that Pall-Ex Logistics empowers the company to deliver comprehensive logistics solutions across the nation. Leveraging advanced IT systems and a two-hour ETA window, the initiative intends to enhance service support for small and medium-sized enterprises, offering an all-encompassing freight solution.
Pall-Ex Logistics embodies a strategic evolution, aiming to redefine logistics service capabilities across the UK market.
