In a comprehensive survey of 2,000 people conducted by survey provider Prolific and commissioned by Speedy Parcels, it has come to light that a vast majority of the UK population engage more frequently with their delivery drivers than with some of their closest companions. Specifically, the study found that 79% of respondents reported seeing their delivery drivers more often than certain loved ones.
The findings further detailed that 89% of these respondents encounter these drivers at least once a week, highlighting the frequency and regularity of these interactions. Notably, more than a third said they see their delivery drivers more than they do their own parents. Almost half confessed to seeing these personnel more frequently than their best friends, and a small percentage even mentioned interactions surpassing those with their partners.
Additionally, the study uncovered that nearly one-third of participants see their delivery drivers more than five times weekly. This statistic underscores the regular nature of modern delivery services, with nearly 9% of individuals encountering delivery drivers every single day.
The flexibility offered by Speedy Parcels, with collection times available seven days a week through collaborations with various freight and parcel carriers, may be a significant factor in this emerging pattern. Peter Board, head of carrier management at Speedy Parcels, remarked on the increasing busyness of delivery personnel, suggesting that with the current demand, it’s no surprise that such frequent interactions occur.
Board emphasised that at Speedy Parcels, the focus remains on providing a seamless and flexible service that prioritises customer needs. He noted that the firm’s customer-oriented approach, characterised by reliable and friendly service, is integral to its operations.
