Advanced Supply Chain (ASC) has taken a significant step forward in its growth trajectory with the appointment of Andrew Hill as commercial director. Hill’s vast experience in multi-channel retail logistics and supply chain roles, accumulated over three decades, positions him perfectly to steer ASC into its next phase of expansion. Among the notable milestones in Hill’s career are senior roles at industry giants such as FedEx and Home Delivery Network, now known as Yodel. Additionally, his involvement as part of the founding team at Sorted Group—an enterprise that evolved into a global SaaS company collaborating with notable brands like Dyson and ASOS—underscores his capability to drive innovation and growth.
ASC’s previous commercial director, Caroline Ellis, has transitioned to a key account director role within ASC’s parent company, Reconomy, focusing on fashion brands. Hill, recognising ASC’s strengths in inbound logistics and pre-retail services, commented on the company’s entrepreneurial spirit, highlighting its alignment with Reconomy’s strategic and sustainable goals. With the dynamic nature of mergers and acquisitions in the logistics sector, Hill sees ample opportunity for mid-sized players like ASC to enable retailers and brands to secure competitive advantages. He expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with ASC’s team and clientele to further their ambitions in the UK and German markets.
In a strategic leap, Bradford-based ASC has invested £60 million in a new European operating facility located in Nettetal, Germany, which opened in July 2023. This state-of-the-art site offers a comprehensive suite of value-added services, from pre-retail and returns processing to transportation solutions, tailored for retailers and consumer brands across Europe and the UK. The facility is not just a logistical hub but a keystone in ASC’s plan to bolster its distribution competencies in these regions.
Ben Balfour, ASC’s Managing Director, reinforced the strategic importance of Hill’s induction, describing him as an asset who comprehends the complexities and prospects that retailers and brands encounter. Balfour highlighted Hill’s extensive experience and his knack for being at the forefront of retail market transitions and driving subsequent growth. He expressed confidence that Hill would be instrumental in supporting ASC’s expansion strategy within the UK and European landscapes.
ASC’s association with Reconomy reflects a commitment to sustainable business practices in the circular economy, aiming to assist businesses in optimising their supply chains while minimising waste. Hill’s leadership is poised to further integrate these environmentally-conscious objectives into ASC’s operational model, offering a competitive edge in an increasingly eco-aware marketplace.
Andrew Hill’s appointment signifies a pivotal movement for ASC, reinforcing its growth and sustainability ambitions.
