Riviera Travel has released details of its full line-up of river cruises for the festive period of December 2024, focusing on the Rhine and Danube rivers. A total of 26 voyages spread across six itineraries are available for bookings, providing guests with the opportunity to sail during the lead-up to Christmas, throughout the Christmas holiday, or to celebrate the New Year.
These curated itineraries promise a unique festive experience. According to Katja Hildebrandt, head of product for river and ocean cruises, these cruises are “firm favourites” among guests, offering a distinct way to celebrate the holidays. Travellers will enjoy the celebrated charm of yuletide markets coupled with in-ship festivities, designed to give a holistic festive experience both on and off the vessel.
The six itineraries are meticulously designed to capture the essence of the regions they traverse. The Danube’s Imperial Cities and Yuletide Markets itinerary comprises twelve December sailings, taking in Budapest, Vienna, and Bratislava, while the Enchanting Rhine and Yuletide Markets includes stops in Bonn, Rüdesheim, Koblenz, and Cologne. Other itineraries such as Christmas on the Rhine and Christmas on the Danube expand on this by offering extensive tour packages during Christmas week.
New Year festivities are equally captivating, with cruises such as ‘New Year on the Rhine’ and ‘New Year on the Danube’, where guests can revel in the historic beauty of cities like Frankfurt and Vienna.
