The upcoming InteleTravel conference in Porto in 2025 is poised to be the organisation’s largest gathering, with expectations to host between 750 to 1,000 travel agents. This strategic move aims to underscore Portugal’s pivotal role within the UK travel market. In previous years, the conference has steadily grown, with more than 500 attendees noted at the recent event in Sorrento.
James Ferrara, president and co-founder of InteleTravel, emphasised the rationale behind choosing Portugal, stating, “Obviously Portugal is one of the most important destinations for the UK travel market, so it’s a strategic choice for us to bring close to 1,000 agents next year.” His words underline the strategic foresight of the agency in selecting this destination.
This year’s conference in Sorrento already marked a significant leap in attendance numbers, illustrating InteleTravel’s expanding influence and ambition in the travel industry. Tricia Handley-Hughes, InteleTravel UK’s managing director, expressed that “Every year, the bar has been set higher and higher,” reflecting the continual growth and increased expectations surrounding the event.
The roots of the InteleTravel conference can be traced back to its first event in Glasgow in 2019. Initially held in a conventional format, the event shifted online amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, before resuming in various esteemed locations including Valencia in 2021, Belfast in 2022, and most recently, Malaga. Each location has played a role in shaping the conference’s reputation and reach.
InteleTravel’s 2025 event in Porto is poised to solidify its place as a leading force within the travel conference scene.
