Princess Cruises has taken a significant step in enhancing family-centric cruise experiences with the introduction of their first Sphere-class ship, Sun Princess. Set to launch in February 2024, this innovative vessel will host Park19, a comprehensive activity zone described as the most engaging in the cruise line’s distinguished history.
Park19 is a standout feature on the Sun Princess, offering a variety of activities designed to appeal to guests of all ages. Among these is the innovative Rollglider, a first for cruise ships, which provides a breathtaking ride with panoramic views of the ocean. This experience, utilising an overhead track, allows guests to be seated and harnessed, reaching exhilarating speeds of up to 11 mph during its 60-90 second duration.
Guests seeking physical challenges can enjoy the Coastal Climb, a unique climbing structure, and the Lookout, an open-air observation deck that is the highest point accessible to passengers. Another adventurous feature is the Net, where thrill-seekers are harnessed above deck 19 to tackle unstable bridges, a z-shaped balance beam, and climb cargo nets. These attractions are targeted at those who have an affinity for heights and adventure.
For those preferring more relaxed activities, the Infinite Horizon offers a captivating experience with leaning tilt walls that cantilever over the ship’s side, allowing guests to peer from deck 19 down to deck nine, presenting a breathtaking perspective. Additional offerings include a hammock area, splash zone, and spaces for games like ping pong and shuffleboard, catering to a variety of preferences and ages.
The cruise line has also expanded its family-friendly offerings to include services for younger passengers. The Youth & Teen Centres have dedicated spaces such as Firefly Park for children aged six months to seven years, Neon Grove for tweens, and The Underground for teenagers. These spaces are designed to provide interactive and enjoyable experiences for children and teens, reflecting Princess Cruises’ commitment to multi-generational travel.
Princess Cruises redefines family cruising with the Sun Princess, offering unparalleled activities for all ages.
