Seabourn has taken a significant step to enhance passenger experiences on their purpose-built expedition ships by introducing cutting-edge connectivity solutions. Both the Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit will soon be equipped with the state-of-the-art WiFi capabilities offered by SpaceX’s Starlink software. This move is aimed at providing faster internet service, improved connectivity, and more reliable WiFi, according to a recent company announcement.
The implementation of Starlink’s technology was completed on the Seabourn Venture just in time for its voyage on 12 May, offering guests an upgraded online experience. The Seabourn Pursuit will similarly benefit from this technology once it is officially launched this summer, thereby ensuring that both ships are furnished with the most advanced internet solutions available.
Natalya Leahy, the president of Seabourn, highlighted the company’s commitment to delivering premier ultra-luxury expedition experiences. She stated, “We are committed to providing the best ultra-luxury expedition experiences at sea and the Starlink partnership will offer a significantly enhanced connectivity experience during our expedition journeys.” This technology is set to improve communication for guests journeying across diverse and remote regions, from the polar areas to the South Pacific, thereby allowing them to stay connected and share their experiences with friends and family.
Adding to this, Seabourn’s vice-president of technology, Kathleen Erickson, remarked on the increasing demands for internet capabilities worldwide and expressed her pleasure at the integration of this innovative technology into Seabourn’s fleet. She noted that guests and crew members alike will enjoy enhanced connectivity, highlighting the strategic importance of such technological advancements in maintaining Seabourn’s competitive edge in luxury cruising.
The Seabourn Venture’s introduction to the UK on 10 May, ahead of visits to major ports in Dublin and Leith, underscores the UK market’s significance to Seabourn. Leahy acknowledged the brand’s popularity with travellers from the region, affirming the UK as a pivotal market for these luxury cruise experiences.
This partnership with Starlink marks a transformative step for Seabourn, ensuring superior connectivity for its expedition guests.
