In a significant move to uplift the river cruising sector, the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has announced a specialised in-person training event dedicated to river cruising. This exciting development was divulged at the 2023 RiverView Conference held in Vienna, which saw participation from close to 400 delegates – marking it as the association’s largest river event.
Scheduled for 5 October, the training is specifically crafted for agents eager to amplify their knowledge and proficiency in the river cruising domain. Such an initiative aligns with CLIA’s commitment to advancing the professional capabilities of those within the cruise industry. It’s particularly noteworthy that agents who successfully complete this training will receive formal certification, a testament to their enhanced expertise.
In parallel, various cruise lines have pledged to support groundbreaking ideas from participating agents, with the objective of propelling sales and enriching service deliveries. This initiative is poised to inject fresh energy and creativity into the industry, promising to deliver innovative solutions and superior experiences for cruise clients.
Furthermore, CLIA is set to launch an interactive RiverView learning module that elucidates the journey from Amsterdam to Bucharest. This digital tool, alongside an online resource aimed at showcasing the industry’s sustainability advancements, will be accessible to all agents, providing a comprehensive knowledge base and support system.
Andy Harmer, the Managing Director of CLIA UK & Ireland, expressed his enthusiasm for the conference and the future of river cruising. “We’re thrilled to see so many agents and stakeholders attend the RiverView conference and would like to thank everyone who has joined us. There is fantastic support and momentum across the sector, and it’s clear that river cruise offers a wealth of opportunities and benefits for agents and customers alike,” he stated. Harmer further highlighted the association’s dedication to enhancing trade best practices, emphasising the importance of collaboration within the industry.
The momentum built from these initiatives signifies a bright future for river cruising under CLIA’s guidance.
