Scotland’s Woody’s Express Parcels has strategically expanded its fleet by acquiring eight new DAF and MAN trucks to accommodate increasing logistical demands from recent contracts. This fleet enhancement is facilitated through a three-year contract hire agreement with Asset Alliance Group, demonstrating a strong, ongoing partnership.
The newly acquired vehicles comprise three DAF XG 530 trucks, one 26-tonne MAN curtainsider, an 18-tonne DAF curtainsider, and three double-deck trailers. This diverse selection is meticulously chosen to meet the evolving operational needs of Woody’s Express Parcels, ensuring efficient parcel and freight delivery across their service routes.
David Wood, owner of Woody’s Express Parcels, expressed his satisfaction with Asset Alliance Group’s consistent ability to fulfill the company’s precise vehicle requirements. “They have been brilliant for our business over the years – and I’m very happy with this latest deal,” he stated, acknowledging the valuable relationship with Dougie Bennett, the business development manager at Asset Alliance Group.
These new trucks will be integrated into Woody’s existing routes, spanning from high-traffic urban centres such as Glasgow to remote locations including Inverness, Stornoway, and Wick. This strategic deployment is set to enhance the efficiency and reach of their delivery network, which operates both nationally and internationally through a network of subcontractors.
This acquisition is particularly significant following Woody’s recent takeover of another transportation company, further consolidating its position and capacity to handle a multitude of contracts across different regions. Their substantial mixed vehicle fleet, now numbering 140, symbolises an agile and responsive service model that caters effectively to the Highlands and Islands, reflecting their commitment to maintaining robust service standards.
The enhanced fleet positions Woody’s Express Parcels to effectively manage and expand their operational footprint.
