Explore Worldwide is set for a record-breaking year thanks to robust agent sales.
- Chief Executive Joe Ponte commits to expanding the trade team and agent resources.
- Managing Director Michael Edwards is praised for gaining B Corp accreditation.
- Travel agents become more adept at engaging experiential travellers.
- Explore prepares for further expansion with new recruitment and tech innovations.
Explore Worldwide is on course to achieve its second consecutive record year. This success is largely attributed to a significant increase in agency sales. Joe Ponte, the Chief Executive of Hotelplan UK, reported this on a Travel Weekly webcast, highlighting plans to strengthen Explore’s trade team and enhance resources for agents. ‘Explore is performing exceptionally well, particularly with travel agents in the UK,’ Ponte noted, mentioning a 26% rise in sales facilitated by agents.
A key factor in this thriving performance has been the exceptional leadership of Managing Director Michael Edwards and his team, who recently secured B Corp accreditation. The accreditation reflects the company’s commitment to social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
Ponte emphasised the unmatched support that Explore extends to travel agents, including substantial training and attractive commission levels. By fostering strong relationships with agents and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, Explore continues to stand out in the industry. This is supported by the increasing aptitude of agents in identifying and catering to experiential travellers, a segment that is growing in importance.
Distinctly separate from Inghams’ regular offerings, Explore focuses solely on adventure travel and group tours. Ponte highlighted that it is challenging to replicate this expertise while managing other travel domains, such as ski resorts. This specialised focus allows agents working with Explore to provide high-quality service and informed recommendations.
Explore’s strategy involves continuous investment in trade resources for its core brand as well as sister brands Inghams and Santa’s Lapland. Both these entities rely heavily on agency-driven sales, mirroring Explore’s successful model. Consequently, the organisation plans to recruit new members for its teams under the leadership of Julie Franklin and Philippa Baines, who spearhead agency sales.
Additionally, Explore is readying the launch of a new portal designed to streamline the booking process, providing agents with a seamless connection to its services. This move is anticipated to further bolster Explore’s efficiency and appeal to agents.
Explore Worldwide’s strategic focus on agent partnership continues to drive exceptional growth and innovation.
