Virgin Voyages has introduced a new programme to reward travel agents for their hard work.
- Agents can earn cash incentives for booking Mediterranean or Northern Europe cruises.
- The initiative, “First Mate Loot,” is in partnership with My Booking Rewards.
- Virgin Voyages cancelled the 2024/25 season for Resilient Lady in Australia.
- The incentive scheme has been widely praised by key industry figures.
Virgin Voyages has launched an innovative incentive scheme designed to reward the diligent efforts of travel agents, recognising their pivotal role in ensuring passengers enjoy seamless and luxurious cruise experiences. The ‘First Mate Loot’ programme, developed in collaboration with My Booking Rewards, allows agents to receive financial compensation for successful cruise bookings.
From now until 30 May, agents booking Mediterranean or Northern Europe voyages set for select 2024 and 2025 sailings will receive a payment of £30 per booking. Meanwhile, for all other voyage bookings, agents are eligible to collect £10 per booking, thus providing an attractive opportunity for agents to enhance their earnings as they navigate the cruise booking landscape.
SJ Walker, UK Director of Sales at Virgin Voyages, has acknowledged the indispensable contributions made by agents. Walker expressed that the company’s success in providing exceptional holiday experiences is largely attributed to the agents, stating, “It’s not lost on us that the reason our sailors are able to kick back and enjoy a relaxing holiday at sea is because of the tireless hard work our dedicated First Mates have put in to get them there.” Consequently, this new programme is seen as a token of appreciation and a method to foster continued excellence in service delivery.
Furthermore, the launch of ‘First Mate Loot’ arrives on the heels of recent disruptions in Virgin Voyages’ itinerary. Earlier this year, plans for the Resilient Lady’s second season in Australian waters were cancelled due to external conflicts in the Red Sea, forcing adjustments to their scheduling strategy. This presents a significant operational challenge that has tested the resilience of Virgin Voyages’ strategic planning capabilities.
The introduction of this scheme has been met with positive feedback within the industry. Darren Pearson, CEO of My Booking Rewards, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, emphasising its potential to enrich the cruise line offerings available to agents. Such developments not only reflect the company’s commitment to its partners but also its flexibility in adapting to an evolving travel landscape.
The ‘First Mate Loot’ initiative stands as both a recognition of agents’ invaluable services and a strategic response to operational challenges faced by Virgin Voyages.
