In a significant move, Blue Diamond Resorts has appointed Louisa Smith as the business development manager for the UK and Ireland. This appointment fills the vacancy left by Luke Swarbook, who departed the company in July to join Travelopia. Smith’s role will involve managing trade inquiries and ensuring awareness of Blue Diamond’s diverse property portfolio and locations.
Bringing more than 25 years of extensive industry experience, Smith is expected to significantly contribute to the company’s strategic initiatives. She will focus on boosting travel agent engagement, particularly through initiatives such as the Royalton Rewards scheme. Her responsibilities also include organising key face-to-face events, educational sessions both online and offline, as well as facilitating fam trips, research groups, workshops, and sales missions.
Todd Kirlik, senior director of sales and business development at Blue Diamond Resorts, highlighted the timeliness of Smith’s appointment, citing the current dynamic period of expansion for the company’s brands. According to Kirlik, “We have lots to bring to the trade in the coming months, so her skills and experience will make a valuable addition to the team.”
Smith’s career began in public relations at Thomas Cook, followed by roles in sales, marketing, and business development across the UK and the Caribbean. Her journey has also seen her establish her own representation company, further solidifying her proficiency in the sector. Her previous experience working with brands such as JA Resorts and Hidden Doorways is expected to be a valuable asset to Blue Diamond Resorts.
