After a brief hiatus from the industry, Joseph Grimley has made a notable return to the field of travel by taking on a new position as Business Development Manager at Fred Holidays. This appointment marks Grimley’s comeback following his departure from the Scenic Group, where he served as sales director and played a crucial role in trade sales, focusing on strategy, marketing, commercials, and sales.
In his new capacity, which officially begins on 12 February 2024, Grimley is set to concentrate on enhancing the company’s strategic growth. He is tasked with cultivating Global Sales Agent (GSA) partnerships, including a focus on Amadeus River Cruises. His efforts aim to not only maintain existing business relationships but also work towards expanding distribution reach and increasing brand awareness on a broader scale.
Reporting directly to Laura Wilson, Fred Holidays’ head of business development, Grimley will be an integral component of the team, diligently working to optimise new business opportunities through active accounts. His return comes amid a period of expansion for Fred Holidays, as the business development team has recently doubled with the addition of Paul Mellon from Riviera Travel.
Grimley expressed his enthusiasm about his return, saying, “I’m very excited to be returning to the industry that I’ve loved for more than 30 years. I’ve missed it. Fred. Holidays’ incredible portfolio of products, along with their pedigree and people, really appeals and is the perfect fit for my experience.” This sentiment is echoed by Tricia Birmingham, the director of tour operations at Fred Holidays, who highlighted Grimley’s extensive experience spanning over 35 years, particularly within the cruise and river sectors.
Joseph Grimley’s return to the travel industry with Fred Holidays signifies a strategic move to bolster the company’s growth and market presence.
