The Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers (Atas) has unveiled ‘connect’ as the theme for its forthcoming annual conference, an event set to underscore the interrelated dynamics within the touring and adventure sector. The conference is scheduled for October 15-16 at a new location for Atas, the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
Atas Director Claire Brighton articulates that the theme ‘connect’ was strategically selected by the board to embody multiple aspects. The conference aims to bridge operators and associates with travel agents – both seasoned participants and novices in the domain. Furthermore, the touring and adventure sector is renowned for fostering lifelong friendships amongst its participants, compelling many to embark on repeat adventures.
Brighton also highlights how the sector creates connections to destinations and significantly, to local communities, offering an enriching experience. This year’s event promises to encapsulate and exhibit these elements effectively.
The conference will span a full day of informative sessions and networking opportunities on October 16. In addition to the main sessions, attendees can look forward to two evening social events, one of which will feature the annual Atas awards ceremony.
To accommodate agents at varying levels of expertise, the conference will introduce a ‘Selling Skills’ workshop on the event’s inaugural afternoon. This adjustment follows the success of last year’s ‘New to’ session, which was well-received by agents across experience levels, and is intended to broaden its inclusivity.
Agent accommodation is thoughtfully provided at The Leonardo Hotel, conveniently situated approximately a ten-minute walk from the Royal Armouries. Anticipation builds as organisers prepare to divulge information regarding the conference speakers, promising a lively and insightful programme.
Claire Brighton remarks, “We will use the event to showcase all this and more,” indicating the comprehensive approach to demonstrating the sector’s vitality and influence.
The Atas conference stands as a testament to the sector’s commitment to fostering connections within the industry and beyond.
