MSC Cruises has unveiled plans to extend its reach within the United States by adding a fourth homeport in Galveston, Texas, starting in November 2025. This strategic move will see the deployment of the MSC Seascape, which will offer a variety of seven-night cruises throughout the year. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to expand MSC’s footprint in the US cruise market, catering to a wider audience in North America.
The new itineraries departing from Galveston will feature popular Caribbean destinations, providing guests with the opportunity to explore Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, as well as Isla de Roatan in Honduras. These destinations are part of a carefully curated selection aimed at offering a diverse range of experiences for travellers.
In addition to expanding its operational ports, MSC Cruises has confirmed the order of two additional liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered vessels. These next-generation ships, referred to as World Class 3 and 4, underscore MSC’s commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation within the industry, and are scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027.
Gianni Onorato, MSC Cruises’ chief executive, remarked on the significance of this development, highlighting it as a substantial step in MSC’s ongoing effort to increase its operational base in the United States. “Earlier this year we began operations from our third US homeport, New York City, and we are now thrilled to include Galveston alongside established locations such as PortMiami and Port Canaveral,” he stated. The Galveston homeport will enhance accessibility for both domestic and international guests, particularly through the well-connected transport hub of Houston.
The expansion of MSC Cruises into Galveston marks a significant enhancement of its North American operations, reflecting its commitment to growth and sustainability.
