Oceania Cruises has announced the introduction of pre-paid gratuities for all bookings made in the UK and Ireland starting from 1 January 2024. This strategic initiative is designed to create a more straightforward pricing framework for both guests and trade partners, providing a clearer upfront cost for holiday-goers.
The move comes after the successful launch of the cruise line’s simply MORE package, which included perks such as free roundtrip airfare, airport transfers, shore excursions, and beverages. Jason Worth, Oceania’s Vice President of International Sales, highlighted the significance of this new feature, describing it as a ‘huge opportunity for our valued trade partners’. His remarks underscore the potential benefits for agents in offering more transparent pricing.
Jason Worth further commented on the popularity of inclusive pricing, recognising the desire of guests to understand the complete cost of their holiday from the outset. The addition of pre-paid gratuities is intended to elevate Oceania’s offerings, building on the previously introduced simply MORE package that has already been well-received.
In alignment with this strategic initiative, Oceania has also expanded its UK sales team. Mark Godden has been appointed as Sales Manager, alongside Sam Richardson and Kim Gough who have been tasked to strengthen Oceania’s trade relationships. Sam Richardson, focusing on northern territories, and Kim Gough, operating from the Southampton head office, bring experience from previous roles in the cruise industry, which is expected to enhance the brand’s presence and effectiveness in maintaining robust trade partnerships.
Richardson’s previous experience with Ambassador Cruise Line and World Travel Holdings equips him with the expertise needed to support Oceania’s travel partners effectively. Meanwhile, Kim Gough, formerly part of Oceania’s central Europe operations, will report to Leah Williams, providing essential sales support.
Together, these initiatives underpin Oceania’s commitment to addressing market needs and refining the customer experience, demonstrating a proactive approach to market dynamics.
