Aito Specialist Travel Agents have marked a significant achievement with an 89% year-on-year increase in average booking values, reaching £13,750 per booking last year. This remarkable rise is reflective of the agents’ strategic focus on promoting Aito operators, which typically involve higher value bookings. Such dedication and the strategic approach have evidently borne fruit, showcasing the agents’ prowess in securing high-value sales.
This upward trend was highlighted during the annual domestic conference of The Specialist Travel Association (Aito) held in Leicestershire, where the figures were presented as part of the All Stars revenue tracking scheme. It was at this event that The Algarve was announced as the location for this year’s Aito Famference. Plans for revamping the Excellence Scheme, which acknowledges agents’ engagement with Aito, were also discussed, indicating a forward-thinking agenda to further incentivise and reward agents.
Chair of Aito, Gemma Antrobus, expressed her pleasant surprise at the increase in booking values, underscoring the agents’ significant efforts to close higher-value deals. Antrobus attributed this success to a greater number of agents committing to selling Aito operators and a concerted effort by agents to align closely with their partners, thereby maximising the value of their bookings.
The conference, attended by over 100 delegates, including 53 agents and 46 tour operators, focused on enhancing relationships through workshops on time management, social media, and better agent-operator collaborations. The event also provided opportunities for agents to engage with operators in a marketplace setting, allowing for direct interaction and collaboration.
Future plans for the Aito Famference were outlined, with the event set to take place from June 6 to June 9 on the eastern side of The Algarve. This educational trip, now in its third year, will see participation from both agents and operators, further solidifying ties within the Aito community. Moreover, enhancements to the Excellence Scheme were discussed, aimed at making it more transparent and increasing its recognition among Aito members.
These developments underscore Aito Agents’ success and commitment to excellence in the travel industry.
