Cotteswold Dairy, a family-run business rooted in the 1930s, has significantly enhanced its delivery capabilities by acquiring 13 new generation rigid trucks, and two 26-tonne DAF 340 XDs. These vehicles, ranging from 7.5-tonne to 18-tonne models, are equipped with Solomon Commercials temperature-controlled bodies and Carrier Transicold refrigeration units, ensuring the safe transport of perishable goods.
Based in Tewkesbury and operating from depots in Cheltenham, Shrewsbury, Hereford, Conwy, and Hemel Hempstead, Cotteswold Dairy supplies a wide range of customers in the semi-retail and wholesale sectors. Notably, it continues to provide traditional doorstep deliveries using electric milk floats, underscoring its commitment to customer service and sustainability.
Led by managing director George Workman, the dairy maintains a modern fleet to meet customer demands and uphold service quality. All new trucks include Dhollandia tail lifts for efficient loading and unloading. The DAF XBs are leased on five-year contract hire agreements, whereas the larger 26-tonne XDs are on seven-year agreements, demonstrating a strategic approach to vehicle management.
The refreshing of the fleet was facilitated by the Asset Alliance Group, which has reliably provided a quarter of the dairy’s DAF fleet. This long-term partnership, highlighted by fleet logistics manager Ruairi Spencer, has been instrumental in the dairy’s operational success. Spencer emphasises the ‘excellent customer service’ and ‘simplicity’ of their engagement with Asset Alliance Group.
Asset Alliance’s Simon Bird played a crucial role in managing the current fleet refresh. The vehicles, adorned with liveries from Smaldon Signs and Vehicle Graphics, illustrate the dairy’s brand presence across its delivery routes. This refresh includes comprehensive repair and maintenance offerings, ensuring minimal downtime and uninterrupted service.
Cotteswold Dairy’s strategic fleet upgrade ensures continued excellence in delivery services.
