As Travel Counsellors celebrates a milestone in annual sales, key trends have emerged.
- Strong demand for international travel and a growing tour operation have driven significant sales growth.
- Leisure and corporate bookings have surged, with tailored packages leading the charge.
- A marked increase in cruise holidays and trips to Japan highlights shifting traveller preferences.
- Investment in technology enhances personalised customer experiences and supports business growth.
Travel Counsellors has achieved a major milestone, surpassing £1 billion in sales over the past year, driven by robust demand for overseas trips and their expanding tour operations. The company’s sales to leisure clients have reached £735 million, while corporate sales, primarily to small and medium businesses, have contributed £265 million. Tailored packages are at the forefront, reporting sales of £364 million.
During the year leading up to August, Travel Counsellors reported more than 155,000 leisure bookings and over 164,000 corporate bookings. The average booking value was noted at £4,717 for leisure and £1,577 for corporate. The Mediterranean, the United States, and Southeast Asia emerged as top destinations, with cruise holidays alone accounting for nearly £50 million in sales.
Furthermore, travel to Japan saw a dramatic rise of 70% in demand. Travel Counsellors previously announced a 31% increase in transaction value to over £941 million for the year ending October 2023, with a 14% rise in the first half of 2024. This growth is attributed to strategic efforts to harness rising travel demands (with an ambitious aim to double revenues over the ensuing five years).
Travel Counsellors’ community has been bolstered by the addition of 297 new business owners in the past year, summing up to a total of 2,121. Remarkably, 171 of them achieved their highest sales figures during this period. Chief Executive Steve Byrne underlined the business model’s essence of fostering personalised relationships through their tech platform, a combination that enables users to scale businesses effectively.
Byrne further emphasised, “The essence of the business model is about the travel counsellor building a relationship with you.” The company differentiates itself through personalised travel experiences, tailored to customer needs, and supported by cutting-edge technology. This synergy has positioned Travel Counsellors as a premier operator in the market. An ongoing commitment to innovation bolsters this success.
Travel Counsellors’ momentum in sales, tech advancements, and personalised service augurs well for its future growth ambitions.
