Celebrity Cruises has announced its fifth Edge-class ship, named Celebrity Xcel, set to hit the seas in November 2025. The revelation came during a ceremonious steel cutting event at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard located in Saint-Nazaire, France. This marks a pivotal step in the ship’s journey towards welcoming passengers.
Set to debut in the Caribbean, Celebrity Xcel will navigate seven-night itineraries from Fort Lauderdale. These routes will alternate between picturesque destinations such as the Bahamas, Mexico, the Cayman Islands, Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. The anticipation for these voyages, now open for booking, suggests a positive shift in the luxury cruise sector.
Laura Hodges Bethge, the president of Celebrity Cruises, remarked on the Edge Series’ transformative impact on cruising perceptions, indicating that Celebrity Xcel represents their next bold move. Onboard offerings will include the Retreat, an exclusive enclave for suite guests, alongside a more expansive Rooftop Garden and Resort Deck boasting cantilevered float pools. The multi-level, multi-terraced Sunset Bar will redefine the ship’s aft, while a revamped Grand Plaza and the innovative Magic Carpet platform promise to enhance the passenger experience. These features contribute to the unique class identity of the Edge series.
