Due to impending protests by the environmental group Extinction Rebellion, the cruise line has adjusted its itinerary.
- The ship Ambience will dock in Ijmuiden instead of the central Amsterdam cruise terminal.
- Plans for similar rerouting have been made in the past for the cruise ship Ambition.
- Ambassador Cruise Line is providing complimentary transfers to Amsterdam for its passengers.
- Guest experiences will be extended to accommodate additional travel time.
The cruise line has announced a change in the itinerary for the ship Ambience due to planned protests by Extinction Rebellion, scheduled for 26 August. The demonstrators intend to block the ship’s access to Amsterdam’s cruise terminal, prompting the company to dock at Ijmuiden instead, approximately an hour’s drive from Amsterdam.
A similar rerouting measure was taken recently for another of the line’s ships, Ambition, which was diverted to the Dutch city under comparable circumstances. This consistent approach indicates the cruise line’s continued strategy to prioritise safety and avoid confrontation with demonstrators.
In light of these developments, the company has arranged complimentary transport for passengers wishing to visit Amsterdam. Despite the change in docking location, the cruise line assures that destination experiences will operate as planned, albeit with an extended duration to accommodate the additional travel time to the city.
The spokesperson reiterated the priority placed on guest safety, security, and comfort. “The safety, security and comfort of all our guests is paramount,” they said, underlining the precautionary nature of these changes to the itinerary.
Acknowledging potential inconvenience, the cruise line expressed gratitude to its guests for their understanding and flexibility. The adjustments are framed as necessary measures to ensure a seamless travel experience despite the unforeseen disruptions.
The proactive adjustment of itinerary by the cruise line underscores its commitment to guest safety amid potential disruptions.
